Advocacy

As a business owner, your focus is primarily on your customers, employees, and business. At the same time, developments in legislation and regulations, safety, digitization, sustainability, and education have a major impact on your business. These are issues that, as an individual business, you often cannot influence on your own. That is why we at Fedecom are committed to addressing them.

Working Together to Build a Strong Sector

What We Stand For

We represent the interests of companies in agricultural technology, horticultural technology, livestock technology, civil engineering, and internal transportation. We do this in interactions with government agencies, policymakers, research institutions, other industry organizations, and other stakeholders, both in the Netherlands and across Europe.

Our efforts focus, among other things, on the approval of new technologies, machine safety, norms and standards, data exchange, innovation, sustainability, and education and development. In doing so, we work closely with our members and with partners both within and outside the sector.

The Right Balance at the Table

Especially within the agricultural sectors, advocacy sometimes requires careful consideration. Our members supply products and services to agricultural entrepreneurs, and their interests are often closely intertwined. At the same time, Fedecom represents the technology sector, not the end user. This means we are constantly seeking a good balance between what is important to our members and what is happening in the sector as a whole.

In doing so, we pay close attention to the challenges and interests of our clients, because a healthy and future-proof agricultural sector is also important to our members. That is why we collaborate with other industry organizations and supply chain partners whenever possible. From our respective roles, we join forces to engage with the government and policymakers when our interests align. In this way, we ensure strong representation of the sector, without losing sight of who we’re representing: our members.

Behind-the-Scenes Advocacy

Advocacy often requires a long-term commitment. Much of our work takes place behind the scenes: we engage in discussions with policymakers, evaluate proposals, contribute practical knowledge, and exert influence before decisions are made. At the same time, there are many issues at play within our sectors, which means we must constantly decide where our efforts will have the greatest impact at any given moment.

As a result, it’s not always obvious what’s happening, and it may sometimes seem as though little is going on. In reality, we work every day to ensure that our members’ interests are taken into account in policy and decision-making. It is precisely the work that isn’t always visible that often makes the difference.

The strength of the collective

In short: by joining Fedecom , you benefit from the strength of a collective. Together, we ensure that our sector’s voice is heard and that companies in agricultural technology, horticultural technology, livestock technology, industry, and internal transportation are stronger than they would be individually.
