Innovation Award Presented on the First Day of GroenTechniek Holland in Biddinghuizen: Gouden Klavertje Vier for Wim Breda’s Mowhawk

The MowHawk by Wim van Breda (Booth 3.02) wins the Gouden Klavertje Vier, the innovation award for the most striking innovation at GroenTechniek Holland 2024 in Biddinghuizen. “Improves biodiversity in public spaces by using a smart camera system mounted on the arm of a roadside mower to provide insight into biodiversity, the circular processing of roadside clippings, and the entire mowing process. Using AI, different species of fauna can be classified per square meter based on color recognition, which contributes to accurately determining the nectar index in outdoor spaces,” said the expert jury members Gert Vreemann (CUMELA/Grondig), Gertjan Zevenbergen (AgriMedia/Tuin en Parktechniek), Johan Simmelink (Tuin & Landschap), Hein van Iersel (NWST/Stad&Groen/Boom in Business/Boomzorg/Fieldmanager), and Thijs Magielse (VHG Association for Landscape Gardeners and Green Space Professionals). At this sixth edition of the Netherlands’ largest biennial green industry trade show, manufacturers, importers, and dealers are launching new products for green industry professionals. “The innovations are very diverse in nature and often offer solutions to current challenges. The broad range of innovations demonstrates just how extensive the field of work for green professionals is.”

Second prize for the Autonomous Tool Carrier from Vector Machines

Second place went to the autonomous implement carrier from Vector Machines BV (booth 2.25): “This autonomous implement carrier is equipped with advanced sensors and mapping technology that can mow in solar parks—even beneath solar panels—when there is no GPS coverage or connection, keeping areas around solar panels free of obstacles. The result is increased exposure to sunlight, leading to improved energy production, cost savings, environmental conservation, and the preservation of biodiversity.”

Third prize for Stierman de Leeuw and Ramm Equipment

Third place is a tie, shared by Stierman de Leeuw and RAMM Equipment. “The Ego LBX1000 leaf blower from Stierman de Leeuw (booth V01) is a professional leaf blower powered by a battery (which can be worn on the back) with a blowing force of 32 Newtons and the capacity to move 1,700 m³/h of air, without emissions, excessive noise, or vibrations. It features an efficient brushless motor, a lock switch for added safety, and, thanks to its ergonomic design, good balance and ease of use. The Ramm3000 from Ramm Equipment ( booth 214) kills weeds using electricity supplied by a battery pack; it is silent, fast, hand-operated, easy to move, and has very low energy consumption. A smart combination of volts, amps, resistance, and frequency (Hz) is adjustable so that the correct power can be set on the lance for any soil type, moisture level, and weed species, effectively killing the weeds.”

Makita Netherlands – Electric Hoe (Booth W01) – Electric hoe for efficient and ergonomic weed removal and soil tilling, thanks to a genuine hoeing motion that reaches fairly deep and deposits loosened weeds—roots and all—onto the soil, with minimal vibrations that ensure comfort during prolonged use.

C. van der Pols en Zn BV – RansomesAurøra EliTE (booth 1.05) – Fully electric rotary mower with a robustly constructed cutting deck and individually driven blades powered by three separate electric motors, ensuring high productivity. Features a limited-slip differential that automatically locks the wheels in challenging conditions, a maintenance-free parking brake, and a transport speed of 25 km/h.
