Who is the Best Mechanic for Mobile Equipment in the Netherlands?

On February 12 and 13, eight students studying to become Mobile Equipment Technicians competed against each other in the skills competition organized by Fedecom, Platform TIM and Kemp Group. Skills Heroes are national skills competitions for vocational students that highlight talent and craftsmanship.

For two days, the participants worked on challenging hands-on assignments, such as complex diagnostic problems under time pressure. The students demonstrated their technical insight, precision, and perseverance. A strong showcase for the program and for our sector!

A Word from the Host

As the host, Kemp Groep helped make the competition possible. According to Wilfred van de Blaak, Chief Operating Officer at Kemp Groep, involvement in these types of events is a given:

According to Van de Blaak, the competition says a lot about both the craftsmanship and the future of the sector:

“Our machines are becoming increasingly advanced. Consider, for example, the growing use of zero-emission equipment. It is precisely the combination of conventional technology—such as diesel and hydraulics—and new electric drivetrains that makes this profession challenging. This calls for flexible professionals who are eager to learn.”

“What struck me most was how seriously the students prepared and how professionally they approached this competition. That shows that the standard is high and that the future of our craftsmanship is in good hands. Only through close collaboration between educational institutions and employers can we ensure that this craftsmanship is preserved.”

The Finalists

The top 3—students from Firda, Vonk, and Aventus—have now been announced. During the national Skills Finals on March 20 at the Brabanthallen, it will be revealed who will be crowned the Dutch champion and qualify to compete in the world championship.
