Number of SKL inspections remains high in 2025

With a total of 6,638 SKL inspections, the number of machine inspections remains consistently high. This underscores the sector’s commitment to the safe, sustainable, and precise application of crop protection products.

The field sprayer was the most frequently inspected machine in 2025, with 3,202 units inspected. Other machines inspected included:

• 1,744 motorized sprayers
• 695 weed and row sprayers and sprayers mounted on seeders, transplanters, and granule spreaders
• 644 orchard and avenue tree spraying operations
• 200 fogging and LVM machines
• 153 inspections in other categories

Results

40% of the machines were approved immediately. For 60%, one or more repairs were needed to pass the inspection. The most common defects were leaks, worn spray nozzles, problems with pressure gauges, and defects in spray drift reduction systems.

In addition to the machines in operation in the Netherlands, more than 400 new machines intended for export are scheduled to undergo SKL certification in 2025. These machines have been delivered to customers in other EU member states and the United Kingdom. This development underscores the international confidence in the SKL inspection system and the quality of Dutch spraying technology.

The consistently high number of inspections, the points of concern identified during the inspections, and growing exports demonstrate that growers, contractors, and manufacturers continue to invest in quality, safety, and craftsmanship.
