"Data Sharing Guidelines" Published: Explanation of the European Data Regulation

The European Data Regulation has been in effect since September 12, 2025. To help companies comply with these regulations, the Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM) has drawn up the Data Sharing Guidelines, which address the sharing of data from connected products and related services.

The Data Regulation is a comprehensive piece of legislation that applies to a wide range of both large and small businesses. In this guide, the ACM explains the rules that manufacturers and providers of smart devices and related services must comply with. Do you market connected devices or related services? If so, these guidelines are also relevant to your company.

Draft version

The draft guide was submitted to stakeholders in September 2025, and the feedback received has been incorporated into the version now published. Because the European Commission will issue additional guidelines later this year, this publication is a preliminary version. The guidelines will be updated and finalized later this year.
