Practical learning subsidy: application period starts June 2, 2025

As an employer you can make use of the Praktijkleren subsidy: a financial contribution for the costs you incur when supervising pupils, students, PhD students or technological designers in training (Toio). This scheme encourages employers to offer practical training places and contributes to better trained personnel for the labor market.

If you have recently supervised a BBL apprentice, you may be eligible to apply for a subsidy through this scheme.

The application period for this subsidy runs from June 2, 2025 at 09:00 am to September 17, 2025 at 17:00 pm. During this period you can apply for subsidy for practical training places within vmbo, mbo, hbo, as well as for PhD students and Toio's for the academic year 2024-2025.

Level of subsidy

Extra subsidy for climate and energy transition

Are you supervising an MBO student in a course that contributes to climate and energy transition? Then you may be eligible for an additional subsidy for academic year 2025-2026. You can only receive extra subsidy if the practical training place meets the conditions for the regular subsidy for practical training. The application for this extra subsidy goes through the regular subsidy application. For the academic year 2025/2026 you can submit your application during the opening period in 2026.
