ELEVEN NOMINATIONS FOR THE 2024 BRONZEN SIKKEL INNOVATION AWARD AT ATH 2024

ELEVEN NOMINATIONS FOR THE BRONZEN SIKKEL INNOVATION AWARD AT ATH 2024
The winner will be announced on the first day of AgroTechniek Holland in Biddinghuizen
At AgroTechniek Holland 2024, the largest agricultural event in the Netherlands, more than 200 manufacturers, importers, and dealers will launch numerous new products for farmers and contractors. The most striking innovation will be awarded the Bronzen Sikkel, an innovation prize granted by a panel of industry experts.
The expert jury members Gertjan Zevenbergen (AgriMedia/Landbouwmechanisatie), Gert Vreemann (CUMELA/Grondig), Martin Smits (Misset/TREKKER and Boerderij), Hessel Doornbos (Agrio/Trekkerweb.nl), and Job Hiddink (Nieuwe Oogst) assessed the extent to which the nominees are innovative and distinctive for the future of the agricultural sector. This resulted in eleven nominations. On the first day of the trade show, Wednesday, September 11, it will be announced which of these nominees will be the winner of the 2024 Bronzen Sikkel . The eleven nominees for the Bronzen Sikkel innovation award are:
Blauhoff – Maxus All-in-One Battery (Booth 4.10)
Advanced and versatile battery solution for agricultural and industrial energy storage and backup systems, for charging machinery and equipment, peak shaving to reduce peak demand and save costs, virtual load increase for the power connection, power backup during outages, and a comprehensive Energy Management System.
Evers Agro – Forest cultivator (booth 8.09)
This split cultivator has two rows of fixed tines, with the second row mounted in a tiered frame and hydraulically adjustable to any height, making it possible to work at two different working depths and, depending on slippage or traction, to self-regulate the second row of tines by raising it continuously via ISOBUS control.
Kemp Machines – FRH Film Roll Holder (Booth 7.16)
A holder for 1 or 2 rolls of 500-meter plastic sheeting to cover silage pits, allowing the silage pit to be covered with a single piece of plastic sheeting, which prevents heating, and enabling you to cut off only the length needed, resulting in fewer scraps of plastic sheeting to discard compared to the standard 50-meter rolls.
Kemp Machines – VGVD (booth 7.16)
This “Double Fresh Grass Distributor” ensures that, when feeding fresh grass to animals, the grass is separated in the middle of the feeding aisle between the left and right feed fences by two drums that rotate outward, separating the mounds of grass and directing them toward the feed fences on both sides. Using a control valve, it is also possible to rotate both drums in one direction when grass is being fed on one side.
Kverneland Group Benelux – iXter B field sprayer with SKAi SportSpray camera technology (booth 6.01)
This technology from Kverneland, combined with Raven Industries’ proven pulse nozzles and weed detection from SKAi’s cameras, results in a SpotSprayer with a wide range of capabilities. The system operates using cameras that identify weeds within a specific crop. As soon as weeds are detected, the appropriate spray nozzles are directed above the crop, ensuring that only the weeds are sprayed with herbicide.
Landkracht Agri BV – Rumex RXF-900 (booth 5.02)
A spot sprayer designed not only for grassland but also for field crops, featuring plant recognition via artificial intelligence and AI-driven technology. It features a working width of 9 meters, a nozzle spacing of 42 mm, an electrically height-adjustable spray boom, 6 cameras for precise recognition, lighting for longer workdays, and support wheels with adjustable track width for working in raised-bed cultivation.
New Holland –IntelliSense™ (Booth V08)
This new system delivers higher productivity and bale quality, saves fuel, and enhances operator comfort by automating key functions of the tractor and BigBaler baler combination. By proactively automating tractor control via a LiDAR sensor mounted at the front of the cab roof—based on the swath’s path— and adjusting the combination’s speed to match the swath’s volume, this system reduces the driver’s workload, ensures the best bale quality, and increases productivity. The machine and sensor control the tractor instead of the driver.
Slootsmid Mesttechniek – Major Bemester (booth 8.13)
This fertilizer spreader features three interconnected Slootsmid mini-exact distributors, ensuring an even pressure distribution across all outlets. Thanks to this precise distribution, even low application rates can be applied—a scenario that will become more common following the abolition of the derogation. With a working width of up to 9.4 m and 50 mm hoses, it has a high processing capacity.
Smits – E-Lampo (booth 6.21)
This new Euromacchine is a ready-to-use, 100% electric, plug-and-play pump solution for clean water housed in a weatherproof, super-quiet enclosure. It is the ideal solution for electric irrigation or for boosting water pressure, and serves as an alternative to a permanently installed pump system.
Vlaming Groep BV – Saphir Grindstar® (as of April 8)
A soil-tilling machine with two rows of passively driven rotors, which tills soil and crop residues to a working depth of 0 to 2 cm thanks to a parallelogram-guided suspension system; it is easy to use, cost-effective due to reduced herbicide use, and highly efficient thanks to high travel speeds of 12–18 km/h.
Weevers Nieuwstad – Electric Irrigation (Booth 7.03)
Fully electric irrigation using an electric boat pump in surface water or a submersible pump to deliver water under pressure to an irrigation system. Thanks to the electric/hydraulic drive, there is little to no pressure loss within the machine.
